I don't really get why your weight loss would stall when you took in more food. Your metabolism is optimized and your hormones are great, why did eating more food result in your weight loss plateuing?
Hopefully your weight loss keeps going!! Would be great to finally "crack the code" and have something that (at least for now) works really well for you!
Which would be also low in Vit A as an another aspect :)
As I've seen you're following Genereux's work about Vit A toxicity, but obviously that clashes pretty much with a heavy cream dominant diet. What is your opinion on the Vit A topic? (I've tried to search you substack, but could not find any discussion about it)
Yea that’s one reason I’d want to try this; now that I’ve weaned myself off tomato sauce with surprising ease, this is becoming a real possibility.
From cursory glances, I think that clearly some people benefit a lot from Grant’s low vA diet, but others don’t seem to have any issues. E.g. my heavy cream & tomato sauce consumption should’ve probably killed me by now, but I have zero of the typical skin/vision issues.
Maybe I’m “lucky” (genetically?) when it comes to vA, just like some people are “lucky” in that they detox seed oils much faster.
I have found your substack about 3 days ago. Wow what a bunch of unique ideas. But what is crazy to me... I couldn't find a single picture of you, or any stats for that matter.
Can I find this somewhere? Like I don't need a face pic but at least a body pic you know. Age would help too....
I feel like everything you say has to be taken with a giant pinch of salt since I don't know if anything is genuine. On top of that, you are still overweight and taking weight loss advice from an overweight person is a dangerous endeavour.
You are clearly joking, but I think it is a weird reply. Taking weight loss advice from people who haven't managed themselves to lose weight is strange since they don't have any concrete proof that they know what they are talking about.
I am not saying you need to be 5% body fat and look like Arnold to give weight loss advice, but at least being at a healthy BMI would be a start. (If youre not on PEDs of course, otherwise BMI is not accurate)
Here is why: If an morbidly obese person becomes overweight, two things could be happening:
1. They follow a great diet that makes people lose weight.
2. They follow a bad diet, but not as bad as what the person was eating before. Hence they stabilised at overweight instead of morbid obesity.
That second part is where I see the danger. Someone who is mildly overweight might take the advice from this guy and get even fatter!
Do you see my point? Please reply if you think what I am saying is bogus, I'd love to hear another perspective. (Though if your reply is going to be another snarky comment then you can just leave it imo)
It's not a perfect analogy, but would you visit an oncologist who themselves had cancer?
Weight loss is not a solved problem (at least if we consider "solved" to be healthy, long-term, sustainable weight loss). There are some fascinating ideas being explored on this blog and it would be a shame to dismiss them if the author is not (yet!) at their desired weight.
Obviously it is losing weight since you lost 80 lbs. But you haven't gotten to a healthy BMI yet. So what info do I have to believe that you (or anyone else) can get healthy on this diet? Being overweight is still very unhealthy
I didn't think about it that way. Indeed if all the fat piggies in America and everywhere else would jump on the cream diet and then become overweight instead of obese then the world would be a better place.
If I find that magic diet then I will let you know
You couldn’t find any stats? I’ve literally posted my weight, with almost daily weigh ins (nearly 3,000 in total) since 2017. Almost every post contains my weight graphs and detailed descriptions.
I’m in my early 40s.
Taking weight loss advice from someone who’s lost 80lbs without counting calories is better than any other solution out there. Even GLP-1s don’t compare.
Thanks for the reply. I didn't find that you were 40 years old so thanks for that.
I think having a picture would be really helpful. Some people can look pretty buff when they are overweight, others can still look like melted ice cream when they are overweight.
It would put things into perspective. Though I suppose in your 3000 weight logs you didn't feel the need to do that. Is it a privacy thing that you are concerned about?
Yea, privacy basically. I’d say I look relative buff for my weight usually. Currently at the overweight/obesity range I wear size L t-shirts and a 34-36 inch waist for pants.

I don’t think it was “more food” but it had more protein and more salt and some other things.
Also my metabolism is clearly not yet at 100%, that will probably take another 5 years if it’s even possible.
That graph look pretty linear to me, I bet if you fit a linear model to it after the initial drop the remainder just looks like some sort of noise.
Could be just 1 big hump of salt or something
Hopefully your weight loss keeps going!! Would be great to finally "crack the code" and have something that (at least for now) works really well for you!
How is your thyroid when in strict ketosis. Glucose sensitivity?
I think it’s fine. In lab tests, my TSH is criminally low (actually considered hyperthyroid). I passed an OGTT in deep ketosis without carbing up.
"a future rice + beans + ground beef diet"

Yes, I take all of my weight loss advice from a svelte giraffe I met in the zoo /s

I agree that we should not dismiss anyone's opinion on weight loss if they haven't reached a healthy weight (yet). Thanks for the reply.
Is your argument that losing 80lbs without counting carolies is “not losing weight?” Lol
This diet works better than any other diet, and even better than Ozempic and Tirzepatide. Reta might be on par with the heavy cream diet, we’ll see.
If literally the best diet ever discovered isn’t good enough, what is lol?
Obviously it is losing weight since you lost 80 lbs. But you haven't gotten to a healthy BMI yet. So what info do I have to believe that you (or anyone else) can get healthy on this diet? Being overweight is still very unhealthy
Yes, but losing 80lbs without counting or restricting carolies is much healthier than being obese.
So at least 45% of Americans could benefit from my diet.
If you know of a diet that can lead me or everyone to be normal BMI, please do share, I have been looking everywhere.
I didn't think about it that way. Indeed if all the fat piggies in America and everywhere else would jump on the cream diet and then become overweight instead of obese then the world would be a better place.
