If you’ve been reading this blog or talked to me for any period of time, you know that I currently believe that excess intake of dietary linoleic acid, which accumulates in our adipose tissue and cell membranes, is the cause of the diabesityheimer epidemic.
(Yes, all my friends are sick of hearing about linoleic acid & OmegaQuant tests).
There aren’t many great markers to test this hypothesis, but the OmegaQuant Complete test is one of a few. It’s available for $100 on Amazon, no Rx needed, you just give yourself a finger prick and drip some blood onto a piece of paper. Into the mail it goes and they send you the result a week later. So convenient!
I’ve written about my own OmegaQuant tests and those of others before.
The great folks at r/SaturatedFat have been reporting their OmegaQuant Complete results for a few years now. User OneSmallHumanBean has been gracious enough to keep a list of everyone’s data and manually generate a chart for comparison.
Thanks, Bean!
Unfortunately, this process meant that people, upon receiving their first OQ, had to dig deep in the history of the subreddit to find comparisons & explanations of their results.
My goal for a long time was to make a web app to automate this to a degree. Today you can see the first iteration of that: the ExFatloss Omega Tracker!
What it does
Lets you enter the date of your test, and your linoleic acid number
For 1 or more tests
If you enter more than one result & date, it’ll show your trend over time
Will display your result in context: compared to r/SaturatedFat users or some historic studies Brad at Fire in a Bottle has written about
What it currently does not do
Does not let you save your results
Does not explain anything about your specific result
Does not allow you to analyse any other results besides linoleic acid
Hopefully coming soon
Letting you save your result and add it as comparison for others
Analyse more than just linoleic acid
Maybe give you some automated explanation of your test results, if we learn more about what those mean. Right now I’m not confident enough in my understanding to automate anything, because I’d rather not automate falsehoods.
Wow! That was fun. I entered three tests results and saw the trend. Only frustrating thing was entering the dates in a different format than UK. I had to think about it 😂 and then I kept putting in spaces after the dashes. The error message came up and pointed out my sins which was helpful.
Nice!
