Introducing the super nerdy USDA nutrition frontend
Tools. They're what separates us from the animals.
Oh hi!
As you might know, I’ve been diving deep into different types of fatty acids, and more recently, amino acids.
Since I was tired of calculating BCAA and linoleic acid percentages manually, I made a little tool for this. It automatically calculates relevant/interesting percentages and sums for any given food entry from the USDA FDC database, which most nutrition websites base their data on.
Check it out in the newly created tools section of the blog:
thanks for building and sharing this! small improvement request: for amino acids, it would be nice to have milligram resolution (ie. 3 decimal digits instead of 2).
This is a cool thing, nicely done. People who make new tools usually find themselves making new discoveries with them. I am avid to hear what you find.
